Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create an account?

SleepPulse uses Google Sign-In for authentication. Simply tap the "Sign in with Google" button on the login screen and select your Google account. Your account is created automatically on first sign-in.

How do I log a sleep entry?

From the Sleep tab, tap the + button in the top-left corner. Set your bedtime and wake time using the time pickers, optionally rate your sleep quality with the emoji scale, then tap Save.

What is Sleep Score?

Your Sleep Score is a personalized rating (0-100) calculated from four factors: Duration (how long you slept), Quality (your self-rated sleep quality), Consistency (how regular your schedule is), and Debt (accumulated sleep deficit). A higher score indicates healthier sleep habits.

What is Sleep Debt?

Sleep Debt is the accumulated difference between your recommended sleep goal (typically 8 hours) and your actual sleep duration. For example, if you sleep 6 hours instead of 8, you accumulate 2 hours of sleep debt. The app tracks this over time to help you understand your recovery needs.

How do I rate my sleep quality?

Go to the Progress tab and select Sleep Quality. Tap "Rate Today's Sleep" and choose an emoji that reflects how you feel. Your ratings are saved and used to calculate quality trends and your Sleep Score.

How do I track activities and energy?

Switch to the Energy tab and tap the + button to add a new activity. Select a category (Work, Exercise, Social, etc.), set the focus and physical intensity levels, and save. Activities help you understand how your daytime habits affect sleep quality.

How do achievements work?

Achievements are unlocked as you build healthy sleep habits. There are four categories: Streak (consecutive days of logging), Quality (maintaining good sleep scores), Consistency (regular sleep schedule), and Explorer (using various app features). View your progress on the Sleep tab under Achievements.

Is my data synced across devices?

Yes. All your data is securely stored in the cloud via Firebase. Sign in with the same Google account on any device (iOS or Android) and your sleep entries, activities, check-ins, and settings will sync automatically.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes, with limitations. You can view previously loaded data offline. New entries will be saved locally and synced to the cloud when you regain internet connectivity.

How do I delete my account and data?

Send an email to support@sleeppulse.app with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include the email address associated with your account. We will delete all your data within 30 days and confirm via email.

Why does the app need notification permissions?

Notification permissions are optional and only used for sleep reminders. You can enable or disable morning reminders in the Sleep Quality settings. The app works fully without notification permissions.

The app is crashing or not loading. What should I do?

Try these steps: (1) Force-close and reopen the app, (2) Check your internet connection, (3) Update to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play, (4) Uninstall and reinstall the app (your cloud data is preserved). If the issue persists, please contact us with your device model and iOS/Android version.

Troubleshooting

Sign-in not working

Ensure you have a stable internet connection and are using a valid Google account. If using a corporate/school account, your administrator may have restricted third-party app access. Try using a personal Google account instead.

Data not syncing

Check your internet connection. Force-close and reopen the app. If the issue persists, sign out and sign back in to refresh your authentication token.

Notifications not appearing

iOS: Go to Settings → SleepPulse → Notifications and ensure they are enabled.
Android: Go to Settings → Apps → SleepPulse → Notifications and enable all channels. Also check that Do Not Disturb is not blocking notifications.

Charts showing empty data

Charts display data from the past 7 days. If you haven't logged any sleep entries recently, the charts will appear empty. Add a few entries and the charts will populate automatically.
